With the 2016 presidential election in full swing, ACE has reissued its memo on Political Campaign-Related Activities of and at Colleges and Universities.
This guide is designed to educate campus administrators, faculty and staff on appropriate ways to become involved in elections, whether hosting an event or volunteering for a campaign. Divided into institutional and individual political activities, it gives concrete examples of what is and is not acceptable practice.
The memo is based on judicial and IRS rulings and the Federal Election Campaign Act of 1971 as well as Federal Election Commission regulations that apply to colleges and universities. It is intended as general guidance only. Specific cases should be referred to campus legal counsel.
